I spent twenty years teaching history in high school and college classrooms before moving to Vermont in 2018. While teaching high school in Pennsylvania, I helped run a student outing program focused on whitewater paddling, hiking, and backpacking. I’ve spent many happy hours alongside students and colleagues in a nine-passenger Chevy Express with no A/C, sharing stories as we chased adventure on rivers from the southern Appalachians to New England.
In Vermont, I exchanged my whitewater canoe for a mountain bike, and my teaching career for a life of writing and outdoor stewardship. I was a staff writer for the Valley News, a daily newspaper based in West Lebanon, N.H. There, I covered education and municipal issues throughout the Upper Valley region of Vermont and New Hampshire. Pulled back toward the outdoors, I pivoted to seasonal work as a backcountry caretaker for the Green Mountain Club. I was the caretaker for Mt. Mansfield’s Taft Lodge and provided public education and stewardship on the mountain’s alpine region.
I most recently served as the manager of Lake Carmi State Park in Enosburg Falls, Vermont, during the 2026 camping season. At the end of the season, my crew and I were honored to receive our region’s Park of the Year award. I continue to enjoy exploring the seemingly endless beauty of the Green Mountain State.
Early in 2024, for reasons I don’t entirely recall other than a love of watching stand-up comics, I attended a comedy open mic at Sawtooth Kitchen in Hanover, NH. I have since performed stand-up from Boston to Burlington, as a host, booked performer, and random open-micer. Please see my booking page or my instagram to see examples of my comedy and to book me to perform.
